เมื่อวันที่ 4 มิถุนายน 2567 นายชยธรรม์ พรหมศร ปลัดกระทรวงคมนาคม ได้หารือกับร่วมกับนาย David P. Pekoske ผู้บริหารสูงสุด (Administrator) ของ Transportation Security Administration (TSA) ซึ่งเป็นหน่วยงานด้านความปลอดภัยในการเดินทางของสหรัฐอเมริกา พร้อมทั้งคณะ TSA และเจ้าหน้าที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูตสหรัฐอเมริกา ประจำประเทศไทย โดยมี นายสุทธิพงษ์ คงพูล ผู้อำนวยการสำนักงานการบินพลเรือนแห่งประเทศไทย (CAAT) และนายศรัณย เบ็ญจนิรัตน์ รองผู้อำนวยการ สายพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจการบิน และเจ้าหน้าที่ฝ่ายมาตรฐานการรักษาความปลอดภัยและการอำนวยความสะดวกในการบินพลเรือน เข้าร่วมหารือด้วย
ซึ่งทั้งสองฝ่ายเน้นย้ำความสัมพันธ์ของทั้งสองประเทศในมิติความมั่งคงทางการบินพลเรือนที่มีมาอย่างยาวนาน โดยเห็นพ้องในการต่อยอด และส่งเสริมความร่วมมือทางด้านการบินพลเรือน โดยเฉพาะในปัจจุบันที่มิติความมั่นคงทางการบินพลเรือนถูกท้าทายด้วยภัยคุกคามที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไปอย่างรวดเร็ว
โดยที่ผ่านมา TSA ได้ให้ความช่วยเหลือและการสนับสนุนประเทศไทยในหลายด้าน เช่น การจัดฝึกอบรมให้กับบุคลากรที่เกี่ยวข้อง การสนับสนุนงบประมาณสำหรับการดูงานในส่วนที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการรักษาความปลอดภัยการบิน ตลอดจนการแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ในส่วนที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการรักษาความปลอดภัยและภัยคุกคามในด้านต่าง ๆ ซึ่งในโอกาสนี้ ประเทศไทย โดยกระทรวงคมนาคม และ CAAT ขอขอบคุณ TSA ในการส่งต่อความเชี่ยวชาญและถ่ายทอดองค์ความรู้ และไทยพร้อมที่จะร่วมมือกับ TSA ในการนำองค์ความรู้ต่าง ๆ มาปรับใช้ พัฒนา และคงไว้ซึ่งมาตรฐานการรักษาความปลอดภัยในการบินพลเรือนแห่งชาติต่อไป
ทั้งนี้ นายชยธรรม์ พรหมศร ปลัดกระทรวงคมนาคม ได้เน้นย้ำถึงความสำคัญของการพัฒนามาตรฐานทางการบินพลเรือนของประเทศไทย โดยเฉพาะในมิติที่จะช่วยส่งเสริมวิสัยทัศน์ “IGNITE THAILAND” ของรัฐบาล ในการผลักดันให้ประเทศไทย เป็นศูนย์กลางทางการบิน (Aviation Hub) แห่งภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ซึ่งการบรรลุเป้าหมายดังกล่าว ต้องอาศัยความร่วมมือของหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องทั้งภาครัฐและเอกชน รวมไปถึงโอกาสที่ประเทศไทยจะสามารถต่อยอดจากความร่วมมือในการทำงานที่มีกับหน่วยงานทางการบินพลเรือนที่เกี่ยวข้อง เช่น ICAO รวมถึง TSA เพื่อให้เกิดประโยชน์สูงสุดต่อการขนส่งทางอากาศ
