CAAT temporarily suspends the operations of 737 Max 9 for passengers’ safety precautions.
Due to the recent statement of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) relating to 737 MAX 8 accident, CAAT wishes to make further statement as follows:

After considering the additional technical information, the accidents on 737 MAX 8 aircraft could also take place in 737 Max 9.

Currently, there is no clear indication for the actual cause of accidents in Indonesia & Ethiopia, and no evident risk management measures or any mechanism to ensure the safety of 737 Max 9 aircraft from the aircraft manufacturer and the State of Design.Therefore, CAAT decides to temporarily suspend the operations of the 737 Max 9 aircraft of Thai Lion Mentari Co. Ltd effective from 14 March 2019 at 00:00 hrs. (flights that take off before that time are allowed to operate back to the base.) until 20 March 2019 at 23:59 hrs. (local time), for a total of 7 days.
CAAT will monitor the risk management process and special trainings for pilots of Thai Lion Mentari Co. Ltd, and closely coordinate with the aircraft manufacturers and the state of design to obtain safety information for further consideration.
