Glossary
Authorized Medical Examiner (AME). A physician with training in aviation medicine and practical knowledge and experience of the aviation environment, who is designated by the Director General to conduct medical examinations of fitness of applicants for licences or ratings for which medical requirements are prescribed and issue medical certificate only for the renewal of all classes of medical certificate. Senior Authorized Medical
Examiner (SAME). A physician with training in aviation medicine and practical knowledge and experience of the aviation environment, who is designated by the Director General to conduct medical examinations of fitness of applicants for licences or ratings for which medical requirements are prescribed and issue medical certificate both for the initial issuance and the renewal of all classes of medical certificate.
Medical Assessor. A physician, appointed by the Director General, qualified and experienced in the practice of aviation medicine and competent in evaluating and assessing medical conditions of flight safety significance. Note 1. – Medical assessors evaluate medical reports submitted to the Authority by AME, SAME.
Note 2. – Medical assessors are expected to maintain the currency of their professional knowledge. Board of
Aeromedical Specialist (BAS). A board of physicians, appointed by the Director General, qualified with expertise and excellent experience in the practice of aviation medicine.
Aeromedical Center (AMC). Hospital or Clinic where the designated AME/SAME conducts medical examinations of fitness of applicants for licences or ratings for which medical requirements are prescribed and issues medical certificate both for the initial issuance and the renewal of all classes of medical certificate. The hospital or clinic shall also conduct activities concerning aviation medicine, preventive medicine and clinical aviation medicine. Moreover, aviation medicine education and training, aviation safety and research and development are also necessary.
Aeromedical Office (AMO). Hospital or Clinic where the designated AME/SAME conducts medical examinations of fitness of applicants for licences or ratings for which medical requirements are prescribed and issues medical certificate for the renewal of all classes and the initial issuance of class 2 and class 4 medical certificate only.

Qualifications and Required Documents for AMC/AMO Application
Hospital or clinic that wishes to apply to be designated as AMC/AMO shall have the necessary qualifications and submit the properly filled application form in conformity with the attached standard form to CAAT, along with the required documents as the following;
1. Civil Aeromedical Center (AMC)
(a) Qualifications
1) Shall have appropriate place to practice medicine.
2) Shall have adequate AME/SAME.
3) Shall have adequate aeromedical equipment to provide service.
4) Shall provide education or training in aviation medicine.
5) Shall execute study, research and development in aviation medicine.
6) Shall not be in the period of AMC designation suspension or in the period of less than two years after the latest AMC designation revocation.
(b) Required documents
1) Copy of a License to Operate a Sanatorium Business or a License to manage a Sanatorium.
2) Copy of AME/SAME Designation Certificate of AMC Director.
3) Namelist of AME/SAME in active service.
4) List of equipment (in description and amount) for aeromedical examination.
5) Aeromedical Curriculum available for training service.
6) Document as evidence of education, research and development in aeromedical concerns.
7) Layout and photo showing each area of the hospital/clinic.
8) Any other necessary documents required by theDirector General.
9) Application for Civil Aero-Medical Center / Aero-Medical Office
2. Civil Aeromedical Office (AMO)
(a) Qualifications
1) Shall have appropriate place to practice medicine.
2) Shall have adequate AME/SAME.
3) Shall have adequate aeromedical equipment to provide service.
4) Shall not be in the period of AMO designation suspension or in the period of less than two years after the latest AMO designation revocation.
(b) Required documents
1) Copy of a License to Operate a Sanatorium Business or a License to manage a Sanatorium.
2) Copy of AME/SAME Designation Certificate of AMO Director.
3) Namelist of AME/SAME in active service.
4) List of equipment (in description and amount) for aeromedical examination.
5) Layout and photo showing each area of the hospital/clinic.
6) Any other necessary documents required by theDirector General.
7) Application for Civil Aero-Medical Center / Aero-Medical Office.
3. Period of Designation Validity
The Director General shall announce the designation of AMC/AMO for each 3 years term.
4. Issuance of Certificate for AMC/AMO
The Director General shall issue Certificate of AMC/AMO in conformity with the attached standard form to the qualified designated AMC/AMO.
5. Renewal of Designation
In case that AMC/AMO wishes to apply for the renewal of designation, AMC/AMO shall submit the request according to the attached standard form to CAAT at least ninety days before the expiry date of the recent designation. The AMC/AMO shall also submit any additional documents in details as the evidence of updated qualification according to item 1(a) or 2(a) depending on each case.
6. Duties and Responsibilities of AMC and AMO
(1) Regulate and Control AME/SAME duty performance according to Duties and Responsibilities of AME and SAME as indicated.
(2) Specify measures and methods for security protection of information and document concerning medical examination applicant e.g. medical examination record, medical examination report by keeping information and document in the safe place and restriction of information and document access.
(3) Assign one AME or SAME to be responsible for the audit of medical examination report before submission to AMG and notify the name of such AME or SAME to AMG
(4) Enable AME/SAME to attend refresher training conducted by AMG or organization accredited by theDirector General.
(5) Perform duty in compliance with rules and restrictions as specified by theDirector General.
7. Suspension, Revocation or Renewal Rejection of AMC and AMO Designation
TheDirector General may take consideration to execute suspension, revocation or renewal rejection of AMC or AMO designation when the fact is obvious that such AMC or AMO cannot meet the required qualifications as indicated or violates the rules regarding duties and responsibilities specified.
